A few words on the Snow at Discovery Ski Area

Discovery has no detail snow data, but we accept the published average of 215 inches snowfall, due to its location well leeward of the Idaho/Montana divide. Discovery is remote so powder can last a long time, even on its steep and expansive Limelight terrain.

Accumulation and Preservation

Blacktail’s early season accumulation is below average for western destinations. Exposure on its best Granite and Limelight terrain is north, so snow preserves very well there in the cold climate. Discovery is most reliable in February and March.
