Will there be snow for the holidays? Here's what the record says about Bridger Bowl at Christmas.

80% of the mountain open on Christmas, on average
15% of years it's less than half open by Christmas
1,220 hours cold enough to make snow at the base, Nov–Dec, in a typical year

A Few Words on the Snow at Bridger Bowl

At Bridger Bowl 12.8% of winter days with 6 inches or more of snow is middle of the pack for western destinations, 7% of months with 90 inches or more is worse than average but 15% of months with 30 inches or less is better than average. Snow density is similar to Utah and the Tetons. Powder skiing can be excellent in the hike-to Ridge terrain and from the Schlasman's lift, both of which require avalanche transceivers to access.

Accumulation and Preservation

Bridger averages about 80+% open at Christmas and is less than half open in about 15% of holiday seasons. Bridger is liberal with opening terrain on a thin base and the steep Ridge and Schlasman's sectors are likely to be rocky until the base is at least 4-5 feet. The primary exposure is east and the elevation range is 6,100 - 8,100 feet. Melt/freeze conditions are likely from mid-February onwards if it has not snowed recently. Bridger Bowl like many resorts has its most reliable snow conditions from mid-January to mid-March.
