Best time to ski Snowmass for smaller crowds: Jan 6 to Jan 31

The holiday weeks (Christmas to New Year's, MLK weekend, Presidents' Day week) and March spring breaks are the busiest. Early-to-mid January, after the New Year's rush, is the calmest stretch, and early April can be quiet too. Snowmass is the biggest of the four Aspen Snowmass mountains, so it spreads crowds out well.

Cheapest time to ski Snowmass: Jan 6 to Jan 31

Lift tickets at Snowmass are priced by demand: buying online well ahead is much cheaper than the window, and the highest prices land on holidays and weekends. The best value overlaps with the quietest times (Jan 6 to Jan 31, outside the holiday weeks), when lodging rates drop too. For 2026-27, Snowmass is on the Ikon Pass (7 days (combined Aspen Snowmass)) and the Mountain Collective (2 days (Aspen Snowmass)), which usually beats window prices for multi-day trips; see our 2026-27 Season Pass Guide for prices and blackout dates.
