Sunrise Bowl (Out of Bounds) drops 1,602 vertical feet over 5,473 feet of skiing, with a steepest pitch of 31° about 5,160 feet below the top. That's steeper than 27% of the 2,251 double black runs we've measured in North America, and the 24th steepest of 99 named runs at Sun Valley. It faces east.
Facing east at an average 17°, Sunrise Bowl (Out of Bounds) gets about 103% of the winter sun that flat ground at Sun Valley does, December through March. That's sunnier than 75% of the runs we've measured, and the 17th sunniest named run at Sun Valley. Its top sits at 8,670 feet.
With little slope to hide behind, it takes nearly the full winter sun of open ground: powder settles and turns heavy sooner after a storm, and spring snow softens early. Shading from ridges and trees isn't counted yet.
